New Transportation Option

With the birth of the third child, it seems that a simple five-seater mini-SUV is no longer sufficient for our transportation needs. So this weekend, we decided to spend too much time wandering around parking lots full of other people's cars, to steal our selves one. :)

After much negotiations, we ended up getting our trade-in stolen from us :(

The new car is a 05 Dodge Grand Caravan, in a dark blue. It has a few scratches, but nothing more than our kids will do to it. There is, however, one mechanical problem that the dealership is going to fix this week, hopefully on Wednesday. The automatic doors are great, so the kids are having fun opening their door themselves.

We'll call it "Blue".

You Know You're an Arizonan When...

I love the Monsoon season. We had our first storm on Thursday, and it was a good one. Lots of rain that made lots of puddles, perfect for some good puddle hopping. The road by our house turns into a river when it rains. We had lots of fun standing by the side of the road waiting for cars to drive by so we could get splashed. I know that water is full of oil and gunk from the roads, and if I were a better mom I wouldn't let my kids play in the rainwater. But how can I deny my children the pure joy of puddles after a rainstorm.

Fun in a Box

I bet you didn't know you could get babies on the Home Shopping Network! I don't think a two for one offer would be a better deal. Although, that does look like a comfy place to sleep. Imagine what a bed made of packing peanuts would feel like.

The bigger ones couldn't let the baby have all the fun. It reinforces the theory that the box is always way more fun than the present.

It's hot outside

For half of the day on Saturday, I was in a sauna. There was plenty of moisture in the air, and the heat was intense. All this was before it even just missed hitting a record high of 111.

What I was really doing is running a cable and phone line through our attic. Since I had to move all the lines to find out where the lines would be long enough to reach to the other side of the guest house. I can see why the original cable guy and phone guy just ran the line all the way around the house to get to the guest house; it also left me with enough to run lots of new lines into the main house. I still have tons of cable and phone line left.

All Smiles!

Mr. S is 2 months old today. I finally caught him smiling on the camera. He has a great crinkly eyed smile that is super contagious. He is growing up really fast. He still sleeps in his swing for half the night, but is getting better at sleeping in the crib. He slept for 6 hours last night! He loves to lay on the floor and kick at toys hanging next to him. He loves to look at his mobile and gives the sweetest coos when he's happy.
He's really likes G-man, and will follow him around the room and give him the biggest smiles. G-man loves it, and responds by smiling and talking baby talk to him. There is nothing cuter than my little five your old talking to him like that.
Kiwi loves him too, although she is still learning to be gentle. We have to keep an eye on her because you never know if she's going to bounce him so high he almost falls out of his bouncy chair, or start swinging hard plastic toys at his face. But, she's always there to comfort him when he cries by giving him his binky or turning on the swing for him.
So, sorry to bore everyone with all the little memories that I love. I always forget too quickly what it is like when my babies are small

Happy Father's Day to You!

This year for Father's Day we are hoping to start a new tradition. His birthday was the week before Father's Day and we did not feel like having cake or ice cream because we'd had tons of junk food the weekend before for Seth's blessing. So, we did the cake for Father's day with 6 candles (one candle for every year he's been a daddy). It was a lot of fun, especially since everyone got to blow out the candles. I think Chad loves June because its all about him.

I hope this can be a tradition for Father's Day. It's a day that often gets overlooked. In fact, Chad went off to meetings Sunday morning, and all the kids were up at 6:30am. So, I got out of bed and made French Toast for breakfast (I never make breakfast, we're a cold cereal family). We ate all the French Toast except for one, not even thinking to save some for Chad. On Father's Day, of all days. I think he was a little hurt. I'm glad I'd made the ice cream cake and had presents, or I would have felt really bad.

Little Old Men

I don't know what it is, but I love to see a little boy dressed like a little old man. Give me suspenders, bow ties, and bald heads any day. Maybe its so they can have a good comparison photo when they reach the age where bow ties, suspenders, and bald heads are again the norm. Either way, my boys are so cute!

Birthday Day

Nothing like a redundant redundancy :)

I took the day off for my birthday, to really do nothing. It was a great to not have to work or go do any special activity. We went to Wendy's for lunch, and had a little party after a nice nap. Nice way to spend the day.

What Happened to Rainbow Bright?

Have you notice lately the resurgence of the old 1980s cartoons? Recently at the library I found a He-man DVD and checked it out for G-man. That had me going down memory lane as I thought of all the fun cartoons I used to watch with my brothers. Transformers, GI Joe, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all have a strong presence in the Target toy aisle.

Then there are the girl cartoons. They have Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake on Saturday mornings. Kiwi got a Strawberry shortcake doll in her Happy Meal a few months ago too. I think now they need to bring back Rainbow Bright. She was the coolest!

New TV

Last week, we got ourselves a brand-new (to us) 48" DLP TV. So of course I have spent the last few days configuring it to optimize viewing. We still have the computer hooked up to it to get DVD and internet, and it has two digital tuners, so we have PIP working as well. Way too much fun.

Playroom Chaos

I had to take a minute and document how well my kids trash their playroom. I should make them put away their toys before getting out something else, but I can't ruin the play. Every toy is out for a reason, and has some part in whatever pretend play they are doing. So, although they make a big mess, they play together for hours with their play getting more and more complex. I tried to insert myself in the play the other day and K told me I was laying on Baby Chucky's bed and asked me to leave. I hope she lets me play with her after G goes to Kindergarten in August. In these pictures they are making a city with all the toys. The blocks are a house for the potato head family.

Family Weekend

We had the whole family down for the new baby's blessing. There were some thirty people in our house, and of course it was a hot weekend. I don't think the cooler stopped working until it cooled off at night. It was quite loud in the house, and the babies were a little upset at the noise levels. Most of all, paper plates are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
