Today as we were running around and getting out of the house, we went to the Ballet place to pick up our daughter. But when we went to start the car, it just wouldn't start. The radio was working, but seemed a little hokey, and the starting noise wasn't sounding good. So we called a tow truck, and had it taken to our repair place. The baby and wife and daughter all catch a ride with a friend, as I wait for the tow truck. When they get home, they realize that they don't have a key to the house, so have to go to the friend's apartment.
At the repair place, of course the car start for the guy there. So I drop it off to have them look at it to see if there is something wrong. Turns out there wasn't anything, just that the back hatch didn't seem to be closed, so that the power was being used up, causing the difficulty to start the car.
This made for a really long day after a long minimal sleep night.

He's Here
It finally happened at 2:04 PM yesterday. Our new baby boy come into this world in a tub of water, since that is where the action happened to be at the time. Maybe because of the water, he forgot to start breathing, but that was quickly adjusted. He was quite the purple boy for too long for my tastes, but is nice and pink now. The real nice part of delivering at the birth center was that we got to leave 4 hours after birth, and not have to sleep in some horrible hospital bed.

It's Time
Now it is really time. We woke up this morning at around 3:30, and her water had broken. So we dropped off the kids at the babysitter, and went to the birth center. But after being there for three hours, there wasn't enough progress, so we are back at home, taking some homeopathic tablets to encourage labor. We'll see how long this will take now.

Almost time
Wednesday night wasn't long enough. We were up in the middle of the night with contractions, and they were enough to keep the mom awake. But, just like the baby not turning around, it was just a preparation labor. Boy did it make Thursday long, trying to work while really just needing a nap.

Midterm Exam
I had the midterm exam last night for my Ops Management class. While the test was based on the homework, the instructor threw a few twists into the test. I don't think I got a couple of the questions right, but I hope there is a generous partial credit policy.

External Cephalic Version
Our baby has been breech for a number of weeks now, and after trying all the homeopathic remedies (and them not working), we got an appointment with the hospital to do an external cephalic version. Basically, they manually force the baby to turn.
After we got into the hospital, we waited around for 3.5 hours (it seemed like more) before the doctor was able to get free of the more important patients. The whole time, the monitoring equipment was taking heat rate and contraction measurements, which made it so that it was impossible to get comfortable on that stylish hospital bed.
As the doctor said, "It was harder than I expected." But the baby got forcibly turned around. Woot!

Crazy busy at work
At work, we have a new major release going out this week, and it has been crazy busy. I have been running around trying to get things done, so that I don't have to stay late. Part of the problem is that there are two new people working on the database part, and don't have the understanding to see where the problems are with the design. So I have had to flesh out the problems with the design so that it will work when released.
Parking Pass
After returning my parking pass last week, the machine is still not working. This is even after the Parking and Transportation Services claims that all you had to do was "flip it over", which is what many of my cohorts did.
Back story: Last week, the pass reader just didn't work. So a number of us complained to to the MBA office, and they had one of the student workers look into it. Basically, nothing came of it ("It should be working in the next few weeks.."), so I sent a long, long email to the listserve, just to vent. Then I called the P&TS, and they wouldn't refund the amount of parking. But, I could return in and get a prorated amount back. So I did just that. Now I don't feel so taken by them.
